PRACTICAL

The course is divided into two (2) parts, theoretical & practical.

The practical part of the course is comprised of 8 lessons as follows:

Lesson 1 - STUDIO ORIENTATION

Lesson 2- HOW CAN I SOUND GOOD ON AIR?

Using your program prep.

Microphone techniques.

Recording voice and music.

Sound effects: when and when not to use them.

Music beds.

Airchecking.

What if I make a mistake?

Lesson 3 - THE PANEL & THE PHONES

The Panel.

Controls you must know.

Working the phones.

Reading commercials. (Pt 1.).

Reading news. (commercial v ABC style). (Pt 1.).

Lesson 4 - RECORDING TECHNIQUES

Selector.

RCS.

Multi-track editing.

Lesson 5 - PRESENTATION (Pt 1.)

Voice Tracking.

Interviewing. (studio guests and on phone).

Automation.

Live assist.

Handling problems. Equipment failure.

Lesson 6 - PRESENTATION (Pt 2.)

Reading commercials.(Pt 2.).

Reading news. (commercial v ABC style).(Pt 2.).

Promos & Liners.

Lesson 7 - PRESENTATION (Pt 3.)

Teams, working with duos, trios & studio guests.

Lesson 8 - FINAL READING/RECORDING IN PREPARATION FOR DEMO

Course Conclusion

After the conclusion of the course, students have the option to individually attend the School's production studio for a further 2 hours to compile and produce  their demo tape and CD. Note: Demo produced by the School attracts a fee.

Students will also be invited to attend a private tour of Nova969.
