TESTIMONIALS

The following testimonials are from students who have completed the Radio Broadcasting Course. If you would like to contact any of them please let us know.

I found this course to be very hands on and the changes I found in my confidence and delivery technique from the beginning of the course to the conclusion were clearly noticeable.

Being in the investment advice industry I am now using the skills learnt to produce my own weekly “Money” show on a local station.

At the beginning of this course I knew nothing, in fact less than nothing, but truthfully every Sunday was the greatest day, for the fun we had was brilliant, the opportunity we all had, unimaginable.

I learnt so much about myself too and the progress made had to be heard to be believed.

You will build confidence you never knew you actually had without even knowing because you’re having such a great time.

At the start I had a passion for radio and at the end, a desire.

Ian's radio course was an absolute privilege to attend for the help and support you receive not to mention great friends you make are fantastic.

Honestly Sundays will not be the same; I highly recommend this course for ANY even partially considering applying. If you do you will receive round the clock support, a bunch of laughs and so damn much fun as well as contacts, a professional demo and guidance. Good luck to Dean, Wilson, Zac, Nat, Sarah and see you when I’m next in Sydney.

Thank you Ian and Brian, for a course that saddens me to have ended. I shall always keep in touch.

Cheers,

Colin Lehey

Having worked within the Entertainment and Broadcasting industries for many years, and recently undertaken the Radio Broadcasting Certificate Course at Ian's Radio School, it is clear to me that here is a course which fast-tracks, in a thorough manner, the real and practical essentials to get you up to speed.

You will be assisted greatly pre and post-Course, over the longer term, towards securing your first post in radio. No matter where you start in the medium, you will be confidently ready to assume the role of presenter or producer whenever the opportunity arises.....and if you have the drive and focus......you will get the opportunity. Classes are small so that individual tutoring is at the max.

At the end of the course, the huge improvement of all in the class is very apparent.

Also, if anyone is interested in learning how to edit sound - put together commercials, produce their own voice-overs, edit interviews, compile a montage of music for promos......this is the place to make a start and get up to speed fast. You are shown how, and will be given tools, to do the job. I had a wonderful (if challenging) January learning at home on my own machine working with the exercises provided.

I can't imagine any better Tutors than these gentlemen. They are Masters of their Crafts. Check them out on this website.

Simply, I can't think of a better springboard for a radio aspirant than the Ian MacRae Radio School.

I wanted to thank all of you for the fun that I have had over the last few months. I don't think I have laughed so much for quite a while - or learned so much either. I know that each of you is about to pursue your own directions - however, I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed working with you, both as a group and individually. The fact that each of us were very much individuals was the strength of our group - none of us could be mistaken as clones for one another! I know that in order to do this as well as I would like to is going to take practice. Right now, I am trying to figure out ways of doing that, both individually, and to do some more team work - which I also had the most fun doing So, I will be in touch soon - even if it is just to catch up and laugh together. I'd like to find an opportunity for us to continue to play together - and sooner rather than later, get paid for it! In the mean time, I want to wish all of you every success.........."

" I'm in my third year of journalism at UWS, and after a stint at a radio station in Perth, I was hooked on radio news.  But there was no way to study radio at uni, and I wanted something practical anyway.  I came across the Ian MacRae Radio School and decided to give it a go.  I'm glad I did:  it's very practical, and you learn so much - not only from the teachers who are experienced in the industry and know what they're talking about, but from your fellow students, who can give you different perspectives and encourage you in chasing your dreams.  This course gave me a good grounding in radio broadcasting techniques and voice presentation, and I highly recommend it."

" I cannot speak highly enough of the Radio School Course! I've been part of the Professional  Communications and Entertainment Industry for over 30 years and I still gained enormous and valuable information and support from it. I can only imagine how much the new talent coming through will gain from this programme. Congratulations Ian and Nick. I look forward to gaining even more knowledge from you in the very near future."

" When I started the Ian MacRae Radio School I hoped that I would recieve the sort of tuitition that would assist my entry into the world of radio.  I got that.  As a more "mature" student, I have always been aware that time is of the essence, and at the beginning I was a little concerned that the course would be directed more at the younger students. I should not have been concerned.  For the duration of the course I was forced to step out of a few of my comfort zones, and to test myself.  I enjoyed every moment of it, and I came out of the course with a clear idea of where my "niche" may be.  The experience of Ian MacRae and the technical knowledge and experience of Nick Baltinos separatly operate to provide solid foundations of knowledge, together they are a supportive, fun and above all professional team.  I fully recommend the course to anyone with the real ambition to enter the world of radio."

" This course gave me the push in the right direction and opened my eyes to the industry that I was desperately seeking. The skills that I learnt in the short duration of the course I see as invaluable. Ian and Nick have done a fabulous job of structuring this course, well worth the money. The small class size made it easy to learn (as a group & one on one), created a great atmosphere and gave me the opportunity to meet some great new mates. I totally recommend this course to anyone who is looking to get started in radio and needs that first little push in the right direction or need to further improve any skills that they presently have. Well done Ian & Nick "

"Happy to make a couple of remarks about the school and my experiences. I've done dozens of courses over the years through work and personal life and found that (especially at the financial hype ones) people make big claims about what the course will do for their future in terms of finance, career, etc, but it's all based on the excitement of the moment. I'm always interested in what people went on and did later.

So, I'd like to make a few honest comments from where I am today having just finished the course, which I do honestly believe you and Nick did a FANTASTIC job on.

Over the years I have attended (and presented) dozens of courses of one variety or another and I honestly feel that the one presented by the Ian McRae Radio School is probably the best structured and most fun one I have done.

The course is structured so that a complete amateur with absolutely no radio or voice over experience (hand up) can become proficient and confident in the studio in a very short space of time...whilst having a hell of a lot of fun.

Ian & Nick make an incredible team. Ian is a seasoned radio professional who has an incredible talent for content; he knows what works on radio and he knows how to make things work on radio. Having grown up listening to Ian McRae on 5KA in Adelaide it was a real honour to be tutored by him. Nick, on the other hand, is a great source of information on the technical (equipment) and legal aspects of modern radio, as well as being able to offer valuable insights into where radio is heading in the future.

Because the class is so small and Ian and Nick run the class in such a relaxed manner, I found the School to be a very non-threatening environment where I was never scared to fail...which was helpful, because I often did. I probably leanrt more from watching others in the group make mistakes than I did from actually practicing myself. I left the school believing that Ian and Nick sincerely wanted each of the students to achieve success far beyond what they had paid for.

You know I don't think I realised what a blast I had at the Ian McRae Radio School until I woke up on the Sunday morning after the course was over and realised I wouldn't be going into the studio. I actually felt quite 'flat"

"I went into the course with a burning desire to be involved in radio one way or another. I have to admit I am avid radio listener, always channel surfing and turning the radio up when the announcer is talking.

I went into the course with a good knowledge of radio from a listener’s point of view. I left the course ten weeks later with a good knowledge of radio from the inside. Learning to use “selector” and the latest radio software and equipment was a real bonus.

Another positive aspect from the course were the lectures, Ian, Nick, Bob and David they had some great advice and helpful tips about the radio industry.

If you’re serious about radio and wanting to learn using the latest equipment I would definitely recommend it."

"The Ian MacRae Radio School allows each student to discover their individual strengths within a small class environment. Training is held at NetFM so all our practical lessons are conducted on real working equipment.

The class touches on all aspects within the radio industry, educating students on other possible career moves other than just being ‘on air’.

It prepares students for a future within radio with both theory and practical lessons. It even warns us of some of the pitfalls to a radio career, which I feel prepares students for a realistic future within the industry.

We had a lot of fun in class and both Ian and Nick are fantastic tutors. They are a fountain of knowledge and more than happy to share their varied and funny experiences with us.

I highly recommend the Ian Mac Rae Radio school to anyone thinking about a serious career in radio"

"Dear all prospective students,

After spending a great deal of time researching career avenues, and sounding out various training organizations, I decided that the Ian MacRae Radio School would be the best for me. And now, having completed my studies, I could not agree with myself more on that decision!!!!

Seriously though, you will receive in the following twelve lessons an in depth, hands on tour through the world of Radio, from the humble beginnings of AM Radio, to the present AM/FM, and into the Digital age.

Nick’s extraordinary technical knowledge, Ian’s many years of broadcasting throughout the globe combine to make this course exceptional. When you add to that Bob Hughes, a communications and presentation extraordinaire (You must read his Bio), David Rogerson- Producer, ARBITRON speaker and with a great deal of experience in the industry, you can guarantee that students of any level will benefit immensely by learning from some of the best in the business, as I have.

The course leaves no questions unanswered, and with small classes you receive a lot of individual attention. The equipment in the studio is of very high standard, with up to date programs, including RCS. The voice training with Bob Hughes is exemplary. You will improve your voice presentation and control, even if you think you’re on top of it.

If you wish to speak to me further about the course from a student perspective, email me at blue_heeler83@yahoo.com.au

Good luck with your studies, and to Ian, Nick, David and Bob, thank you for the opportunity!

Hi Ian,

Thanks again for the opportunity to attend the course. The way it was structured meant we were always enjoying ourselves, which made it that much easier to drag myself out of bed on a Sunday morning. I think the course is great for newcomers to radio, because it covers heaps of different elements of a radio show, such as newsreading, panelling, voice coaching, programming and structuring a show, as well as overviews of the industry, ratings and the pros and cons of radio as opposed to any other business. This approach means students get a taste of what radio is about, and can figure out where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

The demo tape sounds brilliant: really well produced and professional sounding, and the best part is, I get to take credit for it. Thanks Brian!

Cameron Amos

The Radio course is awesome. The small class allows you to get more hands on experience and practice behind the panel. Its a really easy going atmosphere and you receive so much information its hard not to learn. You also receive a well presented Demo which is edited to perfection by Ian and Brian. If your serious about learning the craft id recommended you start right here.

Cheers Chrissy Scott chrissyann84@hotmail.com

Firstly a HUGE thank you to Ian, Brian and the rest of the Radio School team for producing a course which is not only informative but a lot of fun.

The fact that the classes are small means that it's more of a one on one experience and you don't get lost in a crowd of people.

Having Ian as a teacher helps too, he not only shares his knowledgeable experience but is also a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in starting out in radio as it covers such a diverse range of topics in the industry.

I for one started out just thinking it was all about broadcasting but have since learned that this course also covers areas such as ratings, history of radio and also different areas of radio you can work in such as copywriting etc. Not only is this a great course but you also get your own demo at the end of it which thanks to Brian sounds awesome!

So once again a very big thankyou to everyone involved in the course - you have certainly helped me pursue my career in radio!

I never thought anything would be able to get me up and out of bed regularly on a Sunday, even cancel BIG outings on a Saturday night just so I could be on the ball and refreshed and focused......that was until I commenced The Ian Macrae Radio School!

Thankyou so much to Ian and Brian for providing me with, not only, some very essential tools for the radio industry but also a platform for which a small group of people, with their passion for the industry as the only common link, could discuss, banter, rave, giggle and learn from.

I am very excited to step out into the Radio World and use these skills and confidence I have gained through the school. Thanks again for the wonderful experience and I hope to rub shoulders at a radio function as fellow industry workers in the near future.

Cheers,

______________________________________________ To both Ian & Brian, Thank you so very much for all you've taught me over the last few months - you are two very inspirational mentors.

It's been one absolutely amazing journey. I've come out of the course knowing so much more about this most fascinating industry.

Both Ian & Brian are extermely talented and have so many years experience in the radio industry and believe me...it definately shows! It's quite an honour to learn off such experienced people. I really enjoyed working with you both and of course...my class mates. We all supported each other through this journey which I believe helped us in the learning process. The small size of the class really helps too. More time for one on one.

I found so many aspects of the course interesting and definately pointers in which I intend to use in my radio career. Hearing the amazing difference in confidence from our first recording session to our last recording session was fascinating. And Brian...what an absolutely top quality job on our demos! Sounds awesome dude! Thanks for all the work and endless hours you put into them.

The new digital editing sessions (Adobe Audition) were excellent. I think we were all Gobb Smacked at the way technology has changed. And considering all radio stations use this program I think it will most definately be very beneficial. Learning voice production with Bob Hughes was very influential too. Learning from someone with his calibre to help us sell our voices was terrific. And to use all these skills when presenting our weekly demo show, proved how we were consistently getting better. You also get a chance to put your skills on the line with interviewing techniques (your live interview), commercial reading (both live & production reads), working in duos & trios, news reading & multi- tasking. And after all these you get an amazing sounding demo to send out to potential radio stations.

The theory part of the course was also very beneficial - Ian certainly know's his stuff. To learn the in's and out's of radio...ahh theres so much to know. But it's also good to hear some of Ian's & Brian's stories too. And let me tell you...Ian hasn't lost his sense of humour either!

So if you're looking for a career in Radio - Just take the leap...You can't go past the Ian Macrae Radio School - I definately recommend it.

Still not sure?? feel free to contact me for any more information from a student's point of view - joel88@tpg.com.au.

All The Best,

Joel Thomson.
